About me

In life, there are times when you may feel worried, sad, anxious, or depressed about your current situation, or perhaps feel stuck and unhappy in a relationship. We all need help and support at different points in our lives. I offer a safe, supportive, and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

My professional journey began in medical school, followed by working as a junior doctor in West Africa . During this time, I gained valuable insight into both physical and emotional wellbeing, and developed a deep appreciation for the complexity of human experience. It was through this work that I became increasingly drawn to the psychological and emotional aspects of care.

This led me to explore humanistic approaches to therapy, including the work of Maslow and person-centred theory. I developed a strong interest in concepts such as self-compassion, the hierarchy of needs, and the innate tendency towards self-actualisation. My own journey of self-exploration and desire to better understand what it means to truly “find oneself” inspired me to pursue a different career path in counselling.

Through my counselling training and experience, I have worked with clients to support their wellbeing, helping them to better understand themselves and their relationships. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is central to this process—offering a space where you feel heard, valued, and understood.

As a qualified counsellor, I provide support and practical tools to help you move towards greater clarity, resolution, and peace of mind. I am a member of the ACC and the BACP, and I offer private therapy sessions for adults.

My Approach

I believe in the capacity for change and each person’s potential for growth. My core approach is Person-Centred, grounded in the belief that you are the expert in your own experience and that, given the right conditions, you can move towards greater self-understanding and fulfilment.

Alongside this, I work in an integrative way, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches to best support your individual needs. I recognise that no single approach fits every person or every situation, and I therefore tailor my work to you as an individual.

My continuous professional development has enabled me to incorporate elements from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic theory, bereavement work, and attachment-based approaches. This allows me to support you in exploring both present challenges and past experiences, as well as gaining a deeper understanding of patterns within relationships and emotional responses.

I place particular importance on the therapeutic relationship, as I believe that a safe, trusting, and collaborative space is central to meaningful change. Within this space, you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly, develop self-compassion, and work towards greater clarity and wellbeing.

“When someone really hears you without passing judgement on you, without trying to take responsibility for you, without trying to mould you, it feels damn good.”
— Carl Rogers, On Becoming a Person (1961)
